BIOORGANIC CHEMISTRY

This course introduces students into the field of Bioorganic Chemistry, an interdisciplinary area between Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, aimed at transferring the results of the Organic Chemistry (structure, synthesis and reaction kinetics) to Biology. It addresses topics such as non-ribosomal and ribosomal formation of the peptide bond, the chemical energy storage, enzyme catalysis and enzyme immobilization, the concepts of molecular recognition and molecular glycosylation among others.
