I was born in Granada. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Granada and in this same university I obtained my PhD under the direction of Professor López Aparicio. Between 1988 and 1989 I made a postdoctoral stay at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles in Gif sur Yvette (France) in the laboratory of Dr. Gabor Lukacs. Since 1994 I have a permanent position in the department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Granada as . My research has developed in the Research Group of Chemistry, carbohydrates and after I have joined the Group of Molecular Modeling and Design of the
UGR. I belong to the Organic Chemistry Group of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry and I am a member of the Green Chemistry Network of the RSC and the Spanish Network for Sustainable Chemistry. I am author of several teaching books of organic chemistry.
